How do you calculate watts?

Watts = Volts x Amps.

Example of a battery with 12V and 100 amps.

12 volts x 100 amps = 1200 watts.

What is the standard voltage in Ireland?

The standard household electricity is 230 volts (abbreviated to 230v).

What amps does an electrical outlet in an Irish household use?

The max current drawn from an Irish mains electrical socket is 13 amperes (abbreviated to 13a).

What is the standard frequency in Ireland?

The standard frequency is 50 Hz.

What is the typical wattage of an electrical appliance in a home?

A Laptop                      60W – 75W

Portable Radio            5W

Cordless Phone          2W – 5W

Washing Machine       450W – 550W

Fridge                         180W – 340W

Electric Blanket          70W – 100W

Mini Fridge                 50 – 90W

A Light Bulb               An energy saving light bulb uses 5-15W compared to standard incandescent bulb 45-60W.

Anything with a heating element will have a large draw on energy:

Electric Kettle           1000W – 3000W

Iron                           750W – 1000W

Toaster                     1200W – 1500W

Microwave                700W – 850W

Electric Oven            2000W – 5000W

Oil Radiator              1500W – 2000W

How can I get a guestimate of the runtime of my device with a power station?

Allowing for a slight inefficiency in the inverter, we use this calculation for a guestimate:

Wh of the power station x 0.85 / the watts consumption of your appliance.

Eg. with the River 2 and an 80W device:

256Wh *0.85 / 80 = 2.72

Eg with the Delta 2 and a 100W device:

1024Wh *0.85 / 100 = 8.7

Do I have to buy the extra battery to run higher powered appliances?

No. The extra battery only increases the capacity / runtime of the battery.

How does X-BOOST work on an EcoFlow power station?

X-Boost will lower the voltage in order to run the device.

How to fix a failed firmware upgrade- blank screen and white flashing light:

1. Make sure your unit is plugged into a power source.
2.  Unbind your unit from the app .
3. Press the IoT reset for 3 seconds. Check that you can see a WiFi network named “Ecoflow_xxxx” .
4. Go back to the app and click on the plus button to add a new device, scroll down to select your unit (you must add it manually from the list of devices lower down and not from Found Devices).
5. The App will ask you to join the Ecoflow_xxxx network, do this, go back to the app.
6. The App will tell you that an upgrade failed in progress and let you start again.

Is the AC inverter pure sine wave?

The AC inverter is pure sine wave and can power sensitive electronics.

How do I perform a SoC calibration?

Discharge the unit to 0%, then charge to 100% until there is no input.

Can you use an EcoFlow power station while its charging?

EcoFlow power stations can be used while they are being charged. The units support discharging while connected to an AC outlet , a car charger or a solar panel. However, when the device battery is critically low or about to run out, it is better not to use it while connected to a DC charger (solar/car charging). At this time, if the outlet power is lower than or equal to the output power, the device will continue to consume power, which may cause the battery to perform insufficiently, and eventually damage the battery.

Can an EcoFlow power station be used as an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS)?

The power stations have an EPS function with a switch over time of 30m so they would not be considered to have a true UPS function.

  • Bypass mode: When the product is plugged into a power socket and connected to other devices at the same time, the power going to the devices is coming from the grid and not the power station.

Battery care and storage

1. Please use or store the product in an environment temperature between 20°C to 30°C, away from water, heat, and other metal objects.

2. For long-term storage, please discharge the battery to 30% and recharge it to 60% every three months; products that have not been charged and discharged for more than 6 months will not be covered by the free product warranty.

3. For safety, please do not store the product in an environment temperature higher than 45°C or lower than -10°C for a long time.

4. To prolong the battery life, please use the product in an environment temperature between 20°C to 30°C.

Can you use a third party solar panel with an EcoFlow power station?

EcoFlow power stations are compatible with most third party panels.  You will need to use the solar input information provided with your power station as a guide when choosing a compatible panel, and, of course you are welcome to contact us to check compatibly.

Things to note:

*Volts are pushed into your electric device so never over volt.  Amps are pulled so the device take as much as is needed.  Amps can get hot so always err on the side of caution.

Your main checks are:

VOC (Voltage)

Amps

Watts

MC4 connections

No solar controller on the panel

What are parallel connections:

A parallel connection is when you connect all the positives together and all the negatives together.

Amps go up but volts stay the same.

What are series connections:

Series connections are when you connect the positive to the negative.

Daisy chaining makes the volts go up but the amps stay the same.

EcoFlow Alternator Charger

Using the Alternator Charger with a hybrid or electric car:  We currently do not have specific information in our knowledge base to confirm compatibility.
Hybrid vehicles often have different electrical systems compared to traditional combustion engine vehicles, which may affect how the Alternator Charger functions.

For the most accurate and safe advice, we recommend checking the vehicle’s manufacturer guidelines or consulting with a professional mechanic who is familiar with hybrid vehicles.
They can provide insights into whether the vehicle’s electrical system can support the use of an external alternator charger without causing any issues.

Using the Alternator Charger with a Delta Pro:  You will need the smart adapter to complete the set up.  When the alternator is set up in the vehicle, link the 3 components (Alternator, Smart adapter and Delta Pro) and check for a final firmware update.
